National Police Board became operational on 1 January 2010

The National Police Board is headed by National Police Commissioner Mikko Paatero. The new Board employs about 190 people, who transferred there from the Ministry of the Interior Police Department, earlier the Supreme Police Command of Finland, and from the Provincial Police Commands. The National Police Board directs and guides operational police activities.

The Ministry of the Interior Police Department has also been restructured. The Department is responsible for the strategic planning, performance guidance, supervision, human resources administration and financial management of the police.

Telephone numbers of the Ministry of the Interior changed on 1 January 2010

The telephone numbers of the Ministry of the Interior changed on 1 January 2010. The new switchboard number of the Ministry is +358 71 878 0171. With the change, all phone calls to the ministry and the agencies and offices under its auspices are handled by the Kajaani telephone service unit.
