Drawing up the Future of Migration 2020 Strategy
The Future of Migration 2020 project is expressed in the Finnish Government Programme. The project aims to draw up a comprehensive strategy anticipating the volume and quality of immigration to Finland, and its impact on Finnish society.
According to the Government Programme, the objective is to create an immigration policy which supports the building of an unprejudiced, safe and pluralistic Finland, and enhances Finland’s international competitiveness.
The Future of Migration 2020 Strategy has a number of key objectives: managing the labour market; ensuring equal rights for all employees; improving employment opportunities for people from an immigrant background; pursuing a more successful integration policy; aiming at a faster processing of asylum applications; and fighting discrimination.
The strategy, to be adopted by the Government, is scheduled to be completed by May 2013.

Preparatory stage
The project will run from December 2011 to May 2013.
